Is your resume working for you or them? What exactly does that mean?

Most employers will give your resume 7 seconds before considering a second look. We’re not looking to read about your accomplishments, we are not looking to acknowledge your education, and we aren’t even looking at how many years you’ve been doing what you do.

We are however, wanting to read that you can fulfill the responsibility that “WE” need to hire for!

Your resume should impress us in a few ways:

  1. Do you know how to use our proprietary software, and if not, can you use something similar? If we don’t have to train you on a CRM, the less time we have to spend on non income producing activities.
  2. Does your resume pass our Booleen search? Most computerized filters are looking for specific keywords, hence why your resume keeps getting overlooked. You should list at least 5 keywords that match the job description on your resume.

Is your resume legible? Is it more than 2 pages long? Can I understand it? Because if it isn’t it’s getting put into the recycle bin… Periodt!

We really aren’t looking for anything over complicated. Sometimes resumes can look and be a little too ambitious. There are so many other resumes with candidates who share the same qualifications you have, but if YOU can impress the employer with your presentation, you are guaranteed to earn the interview.

It’s simple. Do what you can professionally – but do not forget to make your resume stand out from the crowd!
